“A Study of Manufacturing Industries in Karnataka. Enhancing Organisational Commitment through HR Practices”.
The study focused on the effectiveness of Human Resource (HR) practices and the impact of HR practices on the organisational commitment of employees. The study has been on the key aspects of HR such as recruitment and training, fairness of performance appraisal, pay, communication of HR policies, career development opportunities, feedback from the supervisor, safety at work and approachability of HR. A structured questionnaire containing 15 Likert scale statements was administered to employees to determine their perception of HR effectiveness and their level of organisational commitment. The results show that most employees agree that HR practices are supportive, fairly implemented and contribute positively to job satisfaction. Employees showed strong emotional attachment to the organisation and willingness to extend efforts beyond their basic responsibilities. The responses indicated areas where improvement can be made, including opportunities for career growth, transparency in appraisals, and HR support being more proactive. While HR initiatives are generally perceived as effective, the research offers practical recommendations for enhancing HR systems through better communication, better training and development, fair assessments, and encouraging the well-being of employees. In summary, the analysis concludes that effective HR practices have a significant positive impact on employee satisfaction and organisational commitment and ultimately lead to better organisational performance and a positive work environment.
