Modelling the Determinants of Employee Engagement in Technical Institutions: An Empirical Study from Karnataka
Employee engagement has emerged as a critical determinant of organizational performance, particularly within knowledge-driven institutions such as technical education organizations. Engaged faculty members demonstrate higher productivity, innovation, and commitment to institutional objectives. This study investigates the key determinants of employee engagement in technical institutions across Karnataka. Primary data were collected from 250 faculty members working in engineering and polytechnic institutions. The study employs advanced statistical techniques including Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), and multiple regression analysis to identify significant predictors of engagement. The findings reveal that leadership support, work environment, professional development opportunities, and organizational recognition significantly influence employee engagement levels. Among these, leadership style and professional development emerge as the strongest predictors. The results highlight the need for institutional policies that foster supportive leadership, continuous skill development, and recognition mechanisms to enhance employee engagement in technical institutions.
