Advancing Sustainable Governance through Artificial Intelligence-Driven Strategic Decision-Making: A Theoretical Framework
The increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in global governance systems has the potential to transform how governments and organizations formulate and implement sustainable strategies. However, challenges related to accountability, ethical alignment, transparency, and inclusivity continue to limit the effective use of AI's analytical and predictive capabilities. This study examines how AI can be systematically integrated into strategic decision-making processes to enhance transparency, adaptability, and long-term sustainability. To address this objective, the study develops a theoretical framework that links AI-driven analytical capabilities with ethical and institutional governance structures to support sustainable governance. The framework is developed through a conceptual analysis and synthesis of multidisciplinary literature drawn from artificial intelligence, strategic management, sustainability, and governance studies. The findings suggest that effective AI-enabled governance requires well-defined accountability mechanisms, transparent data ecosystems, and the integration of sustainability metrics into decision-making algorithms. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that, when implemented within appropriate governance frameworks, AI can shift decision-making from routine administrative functions toward strategic, evidence-based governance, enabling institutions to foster innovation while maintaining a balance between equity and long-term societal value.
