Unlocking Mobile Banking Loyalty: The Role of Customer Satisfaction in Digital Finance: A Conceptual Framework for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts
The rapid advancement of digital technologies has transformed the global banking industry by making mobile banking one of the most preferred channels for financial transactions. In India, increasing smartphone penetration, improved internet connectivity, and government initiatives promoting digital payments have accelerated the adoption of mobile banking services. While banks have successfully attracted a large number of users to digital platforms, sustaining customer loyalty remains a major challenge due to increasing competition, changing customer expectations, and continuous technological innovations. Customer satisfaction has emerged as a critical determinant of long-term customer loyalty in digital finance. This conceptual paper examines the role of customer satisfaction in developing mobile banking loyalty by integrating major theoretical perspectives and recent literature on digital banking. The paper synthesizes concepts from the Technology Acceptance Model, Expectation–Confirmation Theory, Commitment–Trust Theory, Relationship Marketing Theory, and SERVQUAL to develop the Digital Banking Loyalty Enhancement Framework (DBLEF). The framework proposes that digital service quality, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, trust, security, convenience, and customer engagement collectively strengthen customer satisfaction, which subsequently enhances mobile banking loyalty. The paper presents six theoretical postulates to guide future empirical research and discusses their relevance in the context of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, where digital banking adoption has increased substantially. The study contributes to digital finance literature by providing an integrated conceptual model that can assist researchers, banking professionals, and policymakers in designing customer-centric digital banking strategies for sustainable customer retention. This study adopts a conceptual research design based on literature synthesis
