Artificial Intelligence, Employee Experience and Retention: A Study on IT Professionals in Chennai
The Indian IT industry is undergoing a transformative shift with the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), which is significantly improving operational efficiency, productivity, and decision-making processes. There are many technological benefits to these changes, but they also have organizational implications and impact employees' experiences and perceptions of job security. The study aims to explore the effect of working with AI integration on employee experience and retention for IT employees in Chennai. The main data collection was carried out with 95 staff from IT service, product companies and Global Capability Centres (GCCs) working in software development, software testing, infrastructure and project management. The analysis of the data collected used the statistical methods, descriptive statistics, correlation, regression and ANOVA. The findings indicate that AI can have a positive impact on the employee experience if employees are adequately trained and managed. But, the top driver of turnover intention is the feeling of becoming job insecure due to AI, especially for employees who are less tenured with the organization. The study suggests that improving employee retention and organisational performance through reskilling, communication and AI from the employees' point of view.
